Default Intro

Hi, I found this forum looking for answers about bleaching oil and liked it so decided to join. I've been in the painting/construction industry for 20+ yrs now. Yes I am a woman, and no I don't look like a man. I've come to find after a time that these are the first questions. I'm taking classes right now to start my own business. I want to see if I can't get some of those government contracts. But like everything else that involves the government there is a lot of red tape. I'm on the Southeast coast, Rhode Island, and am looking forward to getting to know some of you.

Welcome to the group. My business partner is a woman. She doesn't come on here much. She does sling a brush daily.

Welcome to PT!
What kind of classes are you taking? Have you checked the classes offered by the PDCA?

I'm taking 2 management classes , and a math. I don't know if I'm even going to get the degree. The courses that are applicable to our trade are not required courses and the required courses are mostly redundant. Let me tell you these colleges are money making machines! The cost of books alone brings tears to my eyes. One of the management classes I"m taking is helping me build a viable business plan though, so it's not all bad.

Don't know if these replies are going to the right people. If not sorry. I'll get the hang of it. Orlando, I'll work on whatever is in front of me, so no I don't particularly work on cabinets. That particular job though the owner was one of the cheapest people I've ever had the misfortune of meeting. O'well you get what you pay for. The product will fail within a year.

Just a suggestion, it would be better to pass up work with products that you know will fail within a year or two. Referrals are the life of this business and with that comes reputation. If your work fails within a year, it isn't going to do much for your reputation.
