Default Introduction

Hello: my name is Tom Clark and I specialize in historic preservation. My company has been in business for 39 years, and I recently read an old thread regarding putty glazing and thought I would join the forum to read threads occasionally and get input from fellow tradesmen in the painting and related fields. I look forward to being a part of your forum and discussions.

Looking at your website, you guys have done some really high profile work! I'm always bummed when cool old farmhouse windows get ripped out for vinyl. The 'read more' links in your project portfolio don't work in Chrome or Edge, so you might have your resident web guru give your pages an update. Welcome!

Tom welcome to the forum, just don't say anything about matching colors on a job by tinting paint yourself. It seems this practice is frowned on at PT!

Welcome Tom!

Is the bidding process and rates different for historical preservation than conventional paint projects? It seems to be a niche that wouldn't necessarily allow for the expediency demanded in a typical economicaly driven residential, or commercial arena. Therefore, requiring more time and consequently, a robust budget. I'd be interested to know what a typical preservation project would be like. Are they government funded, trusts, private, etc. ?

Thanks
