Default Just checking in

I feel like I should introduce myself, it's been so long.

First, thanks to all that have communicated by other venues, the support is well appreciated.

Second, for all those who'd like some "explanation", allow me to fill you in.

After my mother passed I did need some time to settle her affairs - that will not be completed for who knows how long. Also at that same time having just recovered from minor knee surgery enough to be able to work, my catch-up work load was insane, and on top of that this new diet and exercise regime has been tough to get a hold of. My stress level was higher than I have ever known - and I am not one known to get stressed - I am better GIVING stress (better to give than receive).

All that stress put me in a mood I cared not to share with others. I decided it wasn't in anyone's best interest to be a source of ill temper here on PT.

My attention turned toward family, work, and health. What little free time there was was spent reading. After a month plus, I found other avenues than PT to spend my "down time". Will I return to PT with the same commitment and involvement? I do not know. I do feel an obligation to the mod duties to which I agreed to undertake, but IMO, that takes a large commitment of time - to view most every post. And now I think I have a different sense of life's priorities.

Anyway, just wanted to check in and say "Hi" to the PT'ers and hope you all are doing well. And to thank anyone who has wished me well this past month. There were some rough times, but the human spirit can prevail if one just takes the time to pause, gather one's wits, and connect to one's core.

Maybe Steve will check in, that would put the gold at the end of my rainbow

These internet relations are difficult to maintain with all the different avenues we have. But it helps put the pieces back together.

The days are getting shorter already, Bill. Fall is in the air. Don't forget to close the pool after Labor Day!

Even though we've communicated it's good to have you check in Bill. Hope Steve soon does so as well (Gabe's been kinda' weird since both of you have been absent).

Now, where the hell is Gough?

Good to see you post Bill! Sorry to read you were going through difficult times.

As I mentioned before, Paint Talk is as much about the members as it is about the trade. If not more. Regardless if we're anonymous, or choose to reveal more details of ourselves, we are people on the other side of these internet connections. And, good or bad, the places we participate in will no doubt evoke human emotions that will either attract us or repulse us.

Bill I must have missed your posts explaining your absence. I'm sorry to hear about you Mom. Mine turned 90 this year (Dad turns 89 in Sept.} so it's in the back of my mind that I'll be going through something similar soon. I went through a month of intense physical therapy for shoulder and knees back in January and can only imagine what your recovery must be like.

I wish you then best and truly miss your input and sense of humor.

Be well.

Bill, don't worry about the mod stuff. You and your family are your first priority, so don't worry about having to hold down the fort. It's all good here, so please just take care of yourself.

Great to hear from you, Bill. Even this old redneck painter has missed you.
And why an old hack from Mississippi would miss a paperhanger from Boston is a question we need to explore in the PZ.

Thank you all, seriously.

I'd hit the thanks button for each, but with dilution comes insincerity.

So you guys are saying that Steve and Gough are on sabbatical too?

Sheet, without two of my partners in crime, what's the worth?

Just before logging on, about five other needed tasks jumped to mind, so I really do not know what role the future holds.

and now to get deep............

doctors brought up a subject that I feel we all should have in our mind. We all have elderly friends/relatives. Being prepared for their departure before they go greatly helps the process. Last Christmas, my brother and I knew that Mom would not make it through the year - we both saw it in different ways. We took the time left appropriately.

Enjoy those you have, NOW. And remember, it's all part of the cycle. The gift of life is to be celebrated.

I think Warren Zevon put it best, "enjoy every sandwich".
