Default New to the Forum

Hi all. I'm new to the forum. I'm a DIY'er and seeking advice from the professionals on this forum. I'm not sure where to ask this question, so I'll just ask it here.

I'm renovating a 14 x 66 mobile home rental property. The ceilings are in great shape EXCEPT for the nicotine-stained ceilings. Wow! They are really bad. After poking around here on the forum a couple of days before registering, I concluded that you professionals would use an oil-based, stain-blocking primer. More specifically, you would reach for the Zinsser BIN or Cover Stain. I was at the big blue box store yesterday and priced both at $40 and $17, respectively (I think those were the prices). The price of the Cover Stain is very attractive to me. I want to paint the ceiling with a latex egg shell ceiling white.

Which of the aforementioned products would allow me to cover the nicotine with just ONE coat and cover with a latex coat? I feel I should get the Cover Stain product. Oh, and thanks for having me on the forum!

As was already mentioned in your other thread this is a professional site and www.DIYChatroom.com will be a better fit. IMO the BIN is better but the cover stain should work fine for you.

Yep pros only. There is a DIY site that is apart of the "talk" sites. I am sure a mod will be along to give you the link
