Default New on Forum

My name is Ralph Wiebe. I just joined the forum and look forward to sharing and learning.

I've been in the painting contracting business for 38 years. My son, Phil is following and that's great!

Since we started our General Paint retail store over 4 years ago my responsibilities have been focused on estimating and invoicing.

The change from being a small contractor and being both the 'cook and the captain' to specializing in estimating has been both painful and pain-relieving.

The pain is in the learning curve of pricing more work while actually doing a smaller percentage of jobs estimated in order to be more profitable.
The relief is in occupying an office chair which is easier on the old back that suffers from 'repetitive work exercise.'

It is a great pleasure to see the younger set take over responsibilities I used to bear. At the same time it's difficult to give confidence because it seems, 'I know best.'

Welcome Ralph! I moved your post to the Introduction section so the gang can properly greet you.
We have a few paint store owners and a lot of paint contractors, but I think you are maybe the first to be both, I bet you get a great contractors discount

Look forward to hearing from you.
