Default New Guy saying Hi

Im a small painting business owner. I took the business over from my father around 12 yrs ago and have been painting for around 16yrs. Its funny looking back at when I took over the company and how much I thought i knew about painting and man was I in for a suprise. You quickly find out you dont know anywhere near as much as you thought or as much as you need to know. It still amazes me how much you need to know about so many different things to be a true proffessional painter and to run a correct business. I still dont know it all but ive come along way and hope to learn some more from you guys/girls

Thanks

Welcome to the forum! I'm also a second generation painter. Bought out my father in 2001 at the age of 35 and thought I knew it all all also. Had about a couple of years there where money was just flying out the window because I really didn't know as much as I thought about running a business. Glad to have another 2nd gen painter on board.

Welcome! I have been painting for over 30 years and the one thing I have not learned how to do is to 'get out of this business.' haha

When I was an apprentice, I told an older painter that 'I wasn't going to paint for a living', his words to me were, "the brush will always haunt you"!
