Hello Everyone,

Well, I found this place through Contractor Chat. I am a decorative painter, or faux painter , whatever you want to call it. I have been in the trade over 13 years, and I can't imagine doing anything else. I love what I do and look forward to chatting.

Welcome to PT, I saw you over on CT and was hoping you'd make it over to where the "real painters" hang out!

Seems the decorative finishes/faux is getting more popular, love to see some or your work! We just started doing some basic stuff and are enjoying it.

Yeah, I think I might just be a lurker on CT, those guys are pretty funny, but I'm not sure I should intrude on the man cave. Not that painters aren't men, but I think many of you are more used to seeing us ladies on the jobsite. As for faux being popular, I think it has its ups and downs, and in my area we are saturated with competition. It is hard to stand out sometimes when many people base their decisions mainly on price.

What areas in Maryland do you service? And where do you get supplies?

I go anywhere, Baltimore, DC, Northern Va. I've got a couple clients in Annapolis. I love Budekes in Fells Point, so I get stuff like oil glaze from them. Hmmm, now that I think about it,I am pretty picky about my supplies. So certain things I order out of state, like tints and acrylic glaze, sample boards. If I need regular paint for samples, I get them from whoever makes them. So,I mean I don't get SW paint from Budekes. I order any special brushes from Johnson Paint Co. in Boston, and I actually use a lot of plain old art supplies like tube oils and acrylics. I went to Maryland Institute, so I guess it's ingrained in me.

Lynn (I assume your name is Lynn), women are welcomed here and already well represented. When Chris (aka RCP) and Rob start acting like an old married couple, you'll soon see what god gave her.

Once again WELCOME. We need as much good healthy strong independant estrogen as we can get.
