My name is Jamie Hass and I wanted to introduce myself to everyone on the Paint Talk forum.

I'm currently in the process of starting a painting company in Seattle and the Paint Talk forum has been an amazing resource!!!

Thanks!

Welcome from Massachusetts. I just started my own company in November. Lots of work, often frustrating, but I am loving it. And you are right, there are a lot of people here willing to help--just never ask "how much should I charge?"

Welcome from San Antonio, I'll send referrals your way if I get any leads since I don't work in your area.

It's good to hear from everyone and its been awesome being part of the PT community so far. Although I haven't posted much yet, I've been learning a ton about the various attributes of running a sustainable and profitable painting business.

Here's a little more background about how I got to this point. Although I'm currently in the process of launching my business, I was an apprentice for a successful journey level painter for 7 years during high school and college. Whenever I was on summer vacation or breaks I was working for him. During this time I worked on a wide variety of interior and exterior residential repaints in addition to some high-end remodeling projects.

After graduating from college I worked as a graphic designer in the commercial real estate industry. After parting ways with the last company, i decided i needed a change and i've always though about starting a painting business. Hopefully I'll be able to leverage a lot of my contacts as I establish the commercial side of my business.

As soon as my website goes live I'll post a link.

It's amazing how ready and willing people are to help other PT members.

After reading more than a few posts, I've gleaned that pricing is definitely a loaded question. Luckily there is a lot a great info on the subject despite this.

Ridesarize, It's good to see meet some other local painters on the site.

By any chance are you involved in a local PDCA Chapter? Depending on the activity level of the local chapters, I'm wondering if it's worth $330 membership fee?

No I'm not, would like to be able to but I am not a business owner so I'm always working.
