Default Remember when wallpaper was paper?

GREETINGS FROM THE GREEN MOUNTAINS OF EAST TENNESSEE

Have been a Wallcovering and painting contractor for over 40 years now, I remember when wallpaper was just that, paper, and we used a thing like a pizza cutter to score the paper and then cut it with scissors, ugly cuts that we would then cover up with border. Remember when there was border all around the doors? Well, that is the reason. You could not cut this wet noodle paper with even the sharpest razor knife, it just tore, sometimes you
let the paper set to long and it would tear apart while being carried to the wall. Used a horse hair brush to smooth it down. We have come a long way from having to lap those edges with little diamonds for matching the pattern.

Some reallly experienced knowledgeable people here, I will enjoy being part of your family and hope to contribute and ask my many questions.
Ya'll come now,
Mike

Welcome Mike.

I'm a babe in your eyes - 62 in July and hung my first strip in '72. I'll bow in respect

Although I am well aware of scissor trimming, I only used it once. And I have NEVER had the pleasure of hanging any "legacy" goods that require overlapping seams . . . . unless I was double cutting.

I can empathize about what I call "Wet Toilet Paper" material. Many of the Brit Pulps and cheap sh!t murals turn to snot when booked. I am thankful that there are now some cutting implements that can handle it. Today's blue/black blades and snap-offs are so much better than what we had in the 70's.

BTW, you know of Jim Yates just south of you in Johnson City? He's another with a few years behind him.
