Default This should be fun

Hi all,
I just found this site a few days ago and it seems to be a goldmine of knowledge and experience....that I want to siphon! So I signed up.

I'm a residential and commercial paint contractor in Edmonton, AB, the business is in its second year and stalled out for a bit in the last six weeks due to some illness and surgery on my part, but thats all done with.

I thought this place seemed like a good site to help make the leap from being "self employed" as it is right now to growing an actual equitable business. I'm pretty much a one man show who networks with other one man shows for bigger jobs but I haven't been able to keep a full enough schedule to be able to hire guys on a regular basis. In essence, I run a pretty full out business in the exterior season (approximately June - October here in Edmonton) but stall out a bit during the winter.

I'll be searching through and asking for advice about how best to break into construction painting from residential and commercial repaints and the best ways to increase my existing interior workload. I'd appreciate it if anyone could direct me to some threads that have already gone into those.

Looking forward to chatting with you guys!

-Rob

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

It sounds like RCP wants some royalties

The RC is for River City, and also my initials.

Numbers are so impersonal though, its the great personalities that made me want to join this sight.

I followed the link on Rob's quote (this is gonna get weird) and I think I get the joke. I take it Chris (RCP) and Rob (Rob) have some sort of courtship going on? I personally don't have a Chris at the moment, not to mean that I'm not looking though.

Don't worry Rob of (RC Painters [Canada] ), looks like you're already fitting in quite well. Pretty soon Chris' Rob will be the OTHER Rob

We gots many Chrises, Nathans, Robs, Jesses, Mikes, and even two frigging Archibalds (surname)- the other one from BC.

BTW, if you need the assistance of two great paperhangers outa Edmonton, look up Frank and Eunice Bokstrom. Good people, good hangers. I think you can drop my name without them slamming down the phone

Thanks for the kind words, and the tip. I found their info online and they are in the rolodex (actually its in a cluster of post-its on the desk, basically the same thing). I have a few talents but paperhanging is definitely not one of them.
