Hi everyone,
I'm a residential painter residing in the greater Cincinnati area. I've only been doing it full time for about a year now. My story goes a little like this...I helped my dad on weekends and summers from the age of 13-18, from 18-26 I painted for myself during summers when I wasn't in school or teaching, I had a wonderful job with the government overseas, for the past 6 yrs., as a teacher and resigned my position to move home last August so that our new son could grow up around family (what were we thinking???) No work was available as a teacher, so I was thankful to have at least some knowledge about painting to fal back on. It's been a life saver. I enjoy it so much that I'm pushing forward and not even considering going back into education. I like that fact that I get rewarded for my hard work (unlike education). Looking forward to chattin' with you all.

That is an interesting question. While I was teaching, I noticed that there were a lot of refugees from the construction industry, and not that I'm doing lawns and paint contracting, I'm noticing that there are a lot of former teachers in my ranks. (I wouldn't call the former-teachers "refugees" necessarily. Many teachers in Illinois were laid off--they didn't leave voluntarily.)

Generally, I think teachers like understanding projects and procedures with many steps--a lot of "moving parts"--if you will.

An interesting observation, for sure.
