Red face USBA another 1 from the BAY

Stopping to introduce myself to everyone. Iím a newbie. I just started painting almost 2 years ago. I fell into the profession (2nd gen painter/decorator) it wasnít planned but I love it. Iím just breaking out onto my own. I think apprenticeship is very important and undervalued these days. I am always learning and constantly improving. Sometimes its not just about experience or skill but will. Where there is a will there is a wayÖ

So what I do..interior/exterior residential mostly repaints some remodels and new construction. I work with a lot of real estate agents and investorsÖmy background is in real estate so I know how to work with them. It is a skill Now that I am confident with my basic skills I am venturing out into texture. Iím getting pretty good with the hopper but hand trowel is my favorite. Iím starting to learn faux finishing as well. I just had a few of my first experiences with Epoxy and re-staining wood.

I am a woman that seems to really bend some menís minds. I went through it 3x at the paint store just today. By the 3x I was like ya Iím a girl and I paint. His response ďmy chauvinism is showing itselfĒ we had a good laugh. BUT I already know there are at least a few other women on here so I am in good company.

Anyway I would love to have an all female crew until then the guys I work with are good guys. I work independently on my own but am loosely aligned with other local painters in the area who all do the same. We team up on large projects and subcontract to each other but are all independent with our own businesses. It works great for us.

We are in the Bay Area and work all over. One of the things we love about what we do is getting to meet different people all over the Bay. I have met some truly awesome and amazing people.

I work very hard to keep my work as eco-friendly as I can. Not only using every drop but I am lucky enough to have the paint recycling place 2 blocks from my house. I reuse masking materials when effective, etcÖIím definitely not one of those oh itíll harden. Use it, save it or recycle it. I keep my tools impeccably clean as well and only buy high quality stuff and make it last.

Thatís more than enough for now,
Robin- Unlimited Spaces Bay Area

Nice to meet you all!

Welcome to PT ! Great to see women in the trades, should be more in MHO. Generally speaking women are very talented with the brush and have a great eye for detail . Long as you don't get a bunch of em working together. Look forward to your posts !
