Default Angies List

So....I am reading all the good stuff (and bad) everyone here has to say about Angies list. My question is; are any of you guys in smaller markets are seeing any value in it? It seems angies list is more beneficial to the larger, more metro markets.

Perhaps the larger population areas do better with it simply because AL is more active there. In our particular area it hasn't really taken off yet and so it isn't a big source for leads. In other areas it certainly seems to be for some outfits.

I haven't pursued it as an important lead generator. I don't belong but two customers have posted positive reviews about us. I've gotten a handful of calls from it but not one actual job - yet.

the value of angie list is created by the contractor, you must get many reveiws like 50 plus, that first wich takes time and cost you nothig, using the big deal is also a huge plus, and getting a service award also helps.

I know guys that say its wear the majority of their work comes from, a window guys that pays to be on the first page said this to me when I got him over to the house to quote some windows.

I paid to be on the first page and got crap, but Im glad im on al as it does help build trust with people, its no majic pill but I think it helps in the bag of tools to build on.

Im really not a fan of it but i want all the help I can get and it helps,

I tried it when I was a remodeler. Nothing. But my community is around 150K people. So we're not huge.

I get everything through Craigslist and WOM.

Even in my market which has a million+ people within 20 miles of me, I get maybe 30 AL leads per year.

I get an increase of leads each year. Just this December I've landed 5 complete interior jobs in a row from new home buyers! They purchase & want it painted before moving in or soon after.

After 4 years being on the list... I finally won a super service award on the interior & now have won a super service award 3 years in a row, counting this year.

I pay a small advertising fee to have a coupon & gurantee my spot on the front page. With the most reviews & awards I get the phone calls & the jobs.
