Default Bizarre ? idea

Over the summer I had an "interesting" marketting idea.

Bumper Stickers

I didn't follow through with it, but I did think of the PT community and wondered how much laughter the idea would generate.

The brain processed the idea this way: You get a bunch of bumper stickers and stick them on all the cars you can get permission to do so. Customers, immediate family, friends, and drunks at the bar. It's all about name recognition. If every political and social movement feels it is a valid way to get a message out, why not for contractors?

Yah, I know, the idea is OUT THERE. But still ...........

Maybe even flip them a twenty to "sweeten" the deal? The trick is in the persuading.....

That was one idea I had. Pay for the advertising.

A window decal would be better since I think a lot of people do not want to damage the trade in with bumper stickers.

I could see it working if you could get them on enough vehicles but who wants a wall hanger or painting contractor on their vehicle full time?

You come back to us all out of the box?

I don't see why it wouldn't work as part, of your branding.......

Be picky though and do not let any of them end up on beaters as that will have a negative branding effect. Aim for the finer luxury models if you want the branding to work best for you.

DAMN, I just bought a bottle of wine for a nice man in a trench coat in Boston and he put the sticker on his shopping cart.

Was that not the best vehicle to advertise my high end work ???

Nope you F'ed up! You can fix it though, track the guy down and wall paper his shopping cart and his extra large fridge box house, you might have to eat the cost but the benefit will be almost as large as that fridge box.

I think this can be a great idea. Instead of branding your company, how bout raising awareness for the consequences of hiring a low ballers. Kinda like this

In the sub title you could say, "if you your not sorry yet, you haven't fixed it yet" what ya think?

I've seen trades with vanity plates. An HVAC company has HVAC-1 and HVAC-2 etc for each van. I also saw a plumbing van with plates that read LEAKY...not sure how helpful this one would be.

I've had about 6 cars (wife, mom, pops, brother, etc..) with bumper stickers on their cars for about a year now. Got a decent price on a dozen of them from buildasign.com. I have not received a direct lead from any of it. Next step is to add card / brochure holder to our wrapped vehicles and yard signs.

Ignore that BS (I should have). I was just trying to give you some feedback on your idea. BTW, I've seen some competitors use bumper stickers on guardrails at prominent exits. Don't know if they had any luck or not. Seems kinda cheesy to me but...

well, i will weigh in as not a fan of the idea. i have never put a bumper sticker on any vehicle i own and only one window sticker. the window sticker was hobby related (st. croix fishing rods).

i just do not see a client being so excited about painting that they would want to [ut a sticker on a nice, newer car. maybe on a junker, but that is not what we would want anyway.

i cannot see me putting a sticker on for a carpet cleaner, carpenter, electrician, hvac guy, plumber, or any other service person i use at my house.

Yah I know.

Yup, it is a bit cheesy, but a lead is a lead in this economy.

as I said it was just a crazy idea I had this summer. Sorta one of those ideas that you realize is just nuts, but it stays with you and keeps coming up - - - like a bad borrito
