What we are tryimg to do here, and you could do there is make it illegal for media to let them advertise.

In other words, you would be required to validate that a business concern is licensed (it is a search on a website) before accepting advertising. It is a small step, but one in the right direction and one that makes it harder for them to become known.

What does your state;
  1. Do to find unlicensed contractors?
  2. Do when one is reported to you?
  3. How does one report unlicensed contractors?

The HO should be held responsible, but we don't live in a police state. Not yet anyway. So there's no chance that the dumb HO's in this state will ever be held responsible for hiring a non licensed person.

I hear you and feel your pain. But it is what it is. And if I could focus my marketing on the unlicensed guy I would. If it was that easy the state would focus on them as well. If you have a published list of unlicensed guys, send it my way and I'll do my best to turn them to the licensed side.
I just so happen nto have the magic bullet or i should say bullets, You can borrow it if you like
For the most part HO are not dumb, There trying to save a buck, it is crippling us lic contractors more and more. I Think I will just join the underground I have no more questions
Thank you very much for your (coughbullsh!tcough) honesty.

CSLB estimated 315,000 lic contractors in the stat of cali. They also figure it to be about the same of unlic workers. BULLSH!!!!!!T!!!!!!!! For ever one good guy out there you have 2 to 3 bad guys.
How many NPA did swift hand out in 08?
How Many arrest in 08?
How many sting operations did they do in 08.
After you post your silly little answers, What are they doing?
Fact is they don't care about the unlic workers or the lic contractor. They just want to give those ho's the warm fuzzy feeling, just like Obama did the other night, so it appears.

All you have to do is get some new legislation passed! Piece of cake!

OK I have a few more mister licensed dude. Isn't it true that the CSLB is on among the few that has the least cut backs and it brings the green in? Not sure where you're getting that info. The CSLB is effected by the same hiring freezes, same cut backs as any other state agency. where there getting it from I don't know. They sure are not getting it from my competitors. And you and I know if i hand you list WTF you going to do with it wipe your a** after your morning coffee. Not exactly sure what your point is here. Do you have a point?
Do you have the 08 stats for SWIFT. My title is FORMER CSLB employee. Why or how would I have those stats. Do you get the CSLB newsletter? Are the stats listed there? If so, you already have your answer.
CSLB estimated 315,000 lic contractors in the stat of cali. They also figure it to be about the same of unlic workers. BULLSH!!!!!!T!!!!!!!! For ever one good guy out there you have 2 to 3 bad guys.

After you post your silly little answers, Is this really called for? Don't take your aggression out on me. I'm not an unlicensed contractor and I'm not the CSLB Registrar. What are they doing?
Fact is they don't care about the unlic workers or the lic contractor. They actually do. Unfortunately they don't operate on your timetable or the budget you think they should operate with. They just want to give those ho's the warm fuzzy feeling, just like Obama did the other night, so it appears.
Man 1st the Behr rep and now this Really!!! Now I'm getting that warm and fuzzy feeling!
License Guru lets be pals... Ummm... I don't see that happening. If and when you need my help... don't bother calling.

I'm not an instructor. I offer a service to assist licensed contractors and those wishing to obtain their license by providing experienced application services, comprehensive study materials and bonding services.

I'm not a school nor am I affiliated with a school. Most schools are basically license mills and don't give the personal service I do. Nor do they have the inside connections I do.

I'm in Sacramento, as my bio states.

I don't "cold call"! I don't like people cold calling me, so I'm not about to do it to others.

Did you mean am I "tired" of CT? No, not at all. I'm sure there are some in this forum that don't go to CT.

Did I answer your questions satisfactorily??

I seriously considered not coming back. At middle age, I'm not into the childish BS that appears to be acceptable here. If you don't want my help in this forum, I have no problem on not returning. If you want to act like adults and get answers to your questions, I'll be happy to help. If you want to act like kids, you're on your own. Good luck getting a live body on the phone at the CSLB. And if you're lucky enough to speak to someone there, good luck getting a straight answer from someone who has no clue what they are talking about. I have a total of 15 years in construction and licensing.

Your choice!
