Create a Unique Marketing Advantage with Project Idea Books

Quote:
“They look and act alike,” Tim says of most remodelers. “If there are three boxes -- or three companies -- lined up next up each other, and they all appear the same, the consumer will usually choose one of the cheaper ones. Competing on price is a terrible strategy for a remodeling company, because someone else is always willing to go out of business before you are!”
Last year I attended a webinar with Tim Nagle that was very good, he did a small section on the project book. Although he markets this to remodelers, the concept and message still apply to how we market our business. Now I agree, if you are doing smaller jobs, this can be overkill. But those of you looking to book and sell larger jobs might want to consider attending this.

Darren Salyer is presenting too, and he has some great marketing advice.

It was a good seminar. Not only about the project book, but other little tidbits that were thrown out. The thrust of it was the proper use of a project book and how it seperates you from the rest of the pack. By asking emotional questions, focused on the customer and her project, you can seperate yourself from the others and possibly charge more.

Am considering making a project book myself, it was that impressive.

I have been using those, they are goldmines.

I am almost giddy when I can say, "Well Mrs. Smith, we had this same situation at the Jones residence a few months ago, let me show you what we did (with a story, pictures and testimonial) to solve that problem".

BB, how did this work for you? I am still doing it with great results. Heidi's recent thread reminded me of it.
