Landed my first job of 2011 last week off craigslist and also got one other call and that estimate is still pending. Heres todays posting. Any thoughts or suggestions to improve it? Thanks http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/sks/2198264929.html

Check out VFlyer, you can make a nice ad and save it to repost on CL very easily.

Add the cities and more keywords at the bottom, CL is pretty good for SEO.

Nicest looking ad I've ever seen on CL. Hope it works out for you.

Looks great very professional. The thing I'm gonna try this year is putting something in the add to make them call yous asp something like free window cleaning with every house painting job offer expires march 30. I think the offer expires thing will help motivate people to move on it. From Reading on marketing if your gonna offer a discount it is better to do it in a percentage then a dollar amount, and make sure you have a time table for when the offer expires. Add looks great you have motivated me to put one on CL today since its nasty outside and I cant go riding thanks.

One thing I really like about your add is that it does look so professional that it probally will help in keep the riff raf from calling you

How did you get the pictures posted? I didn't know CL would let you do that.

Type "Facebook", highlite it, then click on the globe/clip and paste the URL.
I think Sean has some screenshots, if you have any trouble, holler and I'll root em up!

Overall it looks good. You will want to fix the spelling error on spring. Secondly, you can make it a bit easier for people by giving them one number to call. If you need to utilize 2 numbers (office line and cell) then just promote one, and let it forward to your cell phone.

Also, I don't know what area you are in, but if you market locally you want to have a gentrified, indigenous number to your area. In other words, you want to have the oldest area code and prefix you can get. This gives you the perception that you have been around a long time before all these new area codes and exchanges popped up.

For example, in my area, if you have 215-884-***x, that is an old number. If you have 267-830-***x people KNOW that is a new number, and probably a new business and might shy away from calling that business.

Also, big fan of the Vflyer too. And get any social media addresses you have on there too. Good Luck!

My only suggestion is to make all the pictures the same size and use paragraph breaks.

I think the days of Craigs List showing up in the SERP's are over since google changed their algo. There is no link juice passed from CL as the links are no-follow. It used to be that proper titling could get the ad itself listed high in the SERP's but my tests over the last couple of weeks have shown that benefit to have been squashed by the G-monster.

Thanks Ken, did not realize that. I reposted a CL for the first time in months because of this thread, be curious to see the results.

So far I did get two calls last week off my first post a week ago and landed one job which I completed Friday. And the guy went and wrote me an awsome review on Google Maps. We will see what happenss from this weeks posting. Luckily my area doesnt have as many painters posting as Portland so my ad stays on the first page longer. And thanks for the tips Pressure Pros. I will work on posting a more professional listing.
