Default Need help with how to hire subcontractors

i have a few jobs to bid on that are too big for me. I need to subcontract out this work and also have them do the bids without trying to steal the job.

A lot of subs mentioned a 60/40 split. I have no clue how that works. I want to sound like a total amateur over the phone with these guys. How do most setups work?

I am still in the process of getting my business up and running. So I have no insurance or biz license yet. I still have to file my papers for my LLC. I know i need to get this done pronto.

Any info you guys can give me would be appreciated.

Thanks

The 60/40 thing aint that hard, If we had 10 apples and I wanted to keep 60% of them. then I would take 6 apples and give you 4. if it were a hundred dollars, then Id keep 60$ and give you 40$ and so on. if you want to sound like a total amateur just ask them how they wanna do it. (dont see the reasonin in this) but your doing real good to have so much work lined up, how did you start your cutomer base? Id just do my bid the usual way and then do the % thing.
