Thanks for the heads-up. Seeing that ad and the qualifier "LOCAL Newspaper" vs. "DAILY" makes a big difference in price! I'm out here in Charlotte, NC, and we do have local community rags...but I have never been a big fan of the papers.
I like the fact that this worked, and YOU DIDN'T EVEN "OFFER" ANYTHING! I'm selling an advertising franchise and getting back into painting/remodeling as my first love, and let me tell you, the sales side of me says, "It HAS to be a coupon to be a legitimate ad"--but only because of the extensive training of the corporate/salesman mindset.
It's good to "de-program" the bad stuff and see an ad that makes me, as a painter/remodeler, stand up a little straighter and think, "just seeing the advertisement makes me proud of what I do." I think it's that confidence in your ad copy that really caught me.
