Default production rate notes

How do you creat production rates? Do you start writing down how much time it takes to complete a certain amount of sq ft or door prep for instance. And do you guys have any math formulas that can help?

That's the ticket right there.

Take 4 doors, 4 windows, 2 walls in a big room and small room and a mid size ceiling. Write down how long each takes, from start to finish.

What we do is look for a middle of the road window or door, one that needs about half the work the rest need. We use this as our time test.

As you get more experience you can just look at a room and tell how long it will take, how much in materials it will take and base your pricing from there.

Keep in mind when looking at these rooms you have to setup a shop, move furniture, mask and cover all times not be painted, remove switch plates , caulk and patch all areas where needed . Deep colors or neutral colors, dry times, travel time and anything else you can think of. Oh and one last thing don't just look at the room that's a good way to miss or forget something.

Use your phone take a snapshot and write sh&it down.
