Default Thanks to Paint talk

I want to say thanks to Paint Talk forum and everyone who comes and goes here.

I think this forum is grand.

I am greatful for being able to share and to be able to read here and see how some people really manage at being successful in business- at whatever level that may mean.

I have spent alot of time reading here and on daily basis am floored and amazed at the information available here. many people are contributors and I would not want to acknowledge one and overlook another- so I am just saying thanks.

It is a privilege to see photos, job-sites, read stories, get tips, and ground myself into realities and facts and laughs.

I will always consider myself a painter. Have not been so good at business, but something for me is comforting about a group of many others that know the hard work and commitment it takes to "be a painter" or be a "business owner" or both.

So thanks for being here! Thanks for the effort to make it possible for me and for others.

Happy Painting!

Sagebrush

You really have to have a love for this business to keep coming to this site everyday.

I was in business for eight years before i found this site, wish I would have found it sooner.

To tell the truth, I'm glad I didn't know about this site when i first opened shop. I probably would have been quite intimidated. It would have been an over abundance of information.

Finding it when I did was perfect. I gained confidence knowing I was already implementing many of the labor and business techniques mentioned here.

And I had a better understanding of realizing the things I needed to change. I still learn from PT, that's why I keep coming back.

I'm planning on growing this coming Spring. I've been running only one service truck for ten years, and I'm adding another one. I'll have two crews running full time. I'm sure that will present it's own set of challenges.

But I feel silly at this point telling my exterior customers that I'm booking houses for next year. That's money left on the table. Next year it's two crews and double the amount of houses that I painted this year. Plus my guy that I sub small interior jobs to.

I know I went off topic, but hey, that's PT right?

This IS a great site! That's why I've been poking my head in every now and then since 2007.
I have a buddy who's been contracting for close to ten years and I can't get him to participate in the forum. I think it's his fear of realizing flaws in his own operation and for him that would mean admitting to failure. Unfortunately, this limited way of thinking prevents him from learning so many of the valuable business lessons, as well as the technical information Paint Talk so generously offers from it's members. I admire you PT members. Your smart and interested in improving your businesses and the industry as a whole, and as an employee, this benefits me greatly. Thanks!

If I found PT when I started .........
I would have run out of charcoal writing on the walls of the cave

thanks to Nathan for investing what he has, and thanks to all the participants for giving all that you have.

And as a mod, thank you all for your patience and criticisms as we find our stride. As I look around at other forums, I do think we have generally achieved an level keel.

Well- who knows where I would be if I found paint talk years ago. I guess I would still be HERE.

What I think though, is that I have struggled so much by myself. I think paint talk would have been a real PLUS for me to look at and OPEN my eyes real, real wide, and realize that I needed to make necessary adjustments OR stop.

I have finally MET that bridge.
