Not gonna do it.
Well the thread is about a new lead generation service and you mentioned AL, so I don't see this as being "off track".

In this case the 30K/week for a OMS is kind theoretical is it not?

I referenced AL because it was mentioned in the opening quote, but the thread as I perceive by the title, is about amazon home services.

The only way to sell on it is flat fee things. Things like:

1. House wash for a house smaller than 2000 SF.

2. Painting 2 coats on 1 side of 10 doors. (or whatever number lets you hit what you need to hit)

3. Painter for a day.

4. Painter for a half day.

That's all I can really think of.

None of those seem to be the type of jobs I'm looking for, so I think I'll pass.

My lead generation plan is as follows, from most to least important:

1. Personal relationships, repeat clients.
2. Personal referrals.
3. Previous customer referrals.
4. Free listings and referrals on yelp, al, consumers checkbook, other misc sites.
5. Website searches.

1-3, are my bread and butter. 4-5, I could probably live without, but occasionally find good jobs.

To be honest, I don't see the advantages Amazon has to offer. Yeah, you get your name out there, but you're also giving 20% away. In my opinion, that money is better off being invested back into your business - whether it's in payroll, supplies, marketing, or some other form.

BUT, with Google testing a similar service on the West Coast and Facebook launching it's own "on-demand home services" platform using its messaging app, it's hard to think that one of the three won't flop, causing the industry to invest in this model one way or another. Maybe not relying entirely on AHS/Google/Facebook for new leads, but at least including it in your marketing portfolio somehow to boost other sources of lead generation.

I'm interested to see how Google and Facebook compete with Amazon Home Services and which model other painting companies find work best (best ROI, highest quality of leads, etc.)

Agree but the painter for a day or half day never worked for us. The amount of work they expected in those hours was crazy. Once bluemoon it led to a fixed price for the work but 90 percent of the leads were just HO with no money to do the project.

That's why I never did a painter for a day. I can see it working for real small jobs but I can imagine people thinking you can paint their entire house in a day and feeling ripped off when you only do a few rooms.

I guess it's all about managing expectations.

We don't need any services like this. We were using Porch.com but recently stopped that. We got a bunch of jobs from Porch, over the last 2 months nothing at all so we decided to stop.

Myself I would much rather take the fee money and use it for other way of advertising.
