I can never hold still long enough to get the eyes just right. Wait, you're not talking about painting the portrait. Just remembered.

This is gonna be a tough one for me as I really do not like taking a serious self portrait, I should be more narcissistic.

And since I like to set the bar REALLY low for the rest of you, I attempted an idea I had, a snow shadow silhouette. With my winter beard and winter mane, the facial features warn't to distinctive

I will try to do something more creative in the next few days, this is just to get the ball rolling to think out of the box

Weekly Photo Assignment #3 - Self Portrait-snowsilloette2608a.jpg

Now, I am assuming a self portrait HAS to have us clicking the shutter (aka - a selfie) - or setting it on time release and running - always a good setting for something humorous happening.

I don't know bill self portrait is just a portrait of yourself. It could be taken by somebody else. or I would even think objects that would say "that's you" if you were to look at them .

Actually, the definition of Self portrait is:
Quote:
A self-portrait is a representation of an artist, drawn, painted, photographed, or sculpted by the artist.
This exercise is to challenge US to take the pictures ourselves in the week the assignment was presented. This one will challenge us well.

I love the attitude of the three,
"NOW LOOK HERE!"
"OK, but how about..."
"Why the frock am I here"

PLUS black shirt, black and white striped shirt, & white shirt

Steve, you also trained in Freudian Psychology ???

Thanks guys. This shot took me about 12 hours to make form start to finish, including ironing shirts lol.

My idea of a self portrait was to show me actually doing something.

The shirts were very intentional dArch however I fall way short of Psychology anything! I might have seen one once but that is about it.

The hardest part of this image is that it is 3-4 images blended into one. That is all good and well when you have strong contrast to cut and paste images with. When you get down to the shadows in the table it gets a little more difficult to get the edit right.

Jeeeeeepers, where are the selfies?

I finally got an idea. Using my iTouch (gen4) I snapped a few while sitting next to a lamp.

The first was inspired by "The Prisoner" (for all Six of One fans). It's totally untouched

Next is the one I decided to work, this just has minor brightness and contrast adjustment

Weekly Photo Assignment #3 - Self Portrait-itoyselfie-assignment3.jpg

and the last is after playing with many of the PSP7 toys decided that "find Edges" was the best

Now, let's see some other entries

That moment you realize.. damn, dude, you're gettin old.

Softbox with off camera flash triggered by Yungnuo remote modules. Selfies with a DSLR aren't the easiest thing to pull off.

OLD? Bah! We're getting BETTER

I was up on our roof yesterday replacing ice damaged shingles and after done I was sitting on the roof ladder just enjoying the sights (I think we all ENJOY being on roofs sometimes), I thought it would make a good picture - then I wondered HOW to do that with a DSLR. NO WAY! I had the set up, angle, lighting, etc planned, but something about setting a timer and then "hurrying" back and trying to look relaxed and pensive.

As Dana "GHWB" Carvey would say:
