Have any of you noticed the age of home owners getting much older? I have been paying attention to the average age of my clients for the last two years and have seen it be mostly (90%) over 55.
I believe this trend, if it is one, to be that age group is mostly retierd and have a good steady income,401 k ,ssn and investments and they arent burning up $150. a week in gas alowing the bad economy to not effect them as much and thusly I am getting calls from that age group.
I am now targeting older clients with 15% dis.for 55 and older in my add,to get the word out to more of that age group and in slow times I always run my add in high end comunities as well, I will have to drive farther but it will keep the lights on .Thats my plan for the wenter. BPTL

Average age for my customers is probably 45 and up, with over-50 probably being the best potential customers.

"My wife doesn't want me to get on a ladder anymore" is one comment I often hear.

The average age of my customers is 55 or older, it's a good group of folks to work for; it works for me.
The comments I hear are....."I just can't do it any more" (usually from the lady of the house) or the working customers don't have time.
Younger homeowners are loaded down with house payments, car payments and have a DIY attitude using big box paint.

Sage must be working in my neighborhood !

I cannot recall working for anyone under 40.

Newspaper article we just read says people with kids fleeing our central coast area. Median income down, 3yrs straight. Home buyers are baby boomers going into retirement here. Biggest employer is the electric co, and they are cutting back. 2nd biggest employer is a grocery chain.
14month supply of new homes for sale on the market, now. Of course foreclosures are up, but not near as bad as many places. Many people here work for gubment. Very little industry, manufacturing, or agriculture.

I might also add that the elder customers have homes that are paid for.
I would guess that the average age of the homes I work in are 13 to 25 years old.
Maybe the question should have been average age of customer & home.
It would be interesting for you guys to post avg. age of home.
