They had to be doing something else to be targeted like that. A bust of under 50 illegals doesn't seem worth the time. I know paint companies around here that have 3 times that amount.
Anne Arundle County is one of a few conservative counties in the peoples republic of maryland. They were doing something, it's called breaking the law.
I do know in the past they did mostly new construction. As that died they started doing more residential and peeing on the same bushes as some other big guys. The feds were tipped, but who cares? They were breaking the law!

It says he was also housing them, something seems kind of weird about that to me. I had a friend tell me about a guy that worked for years ago, this guy would would rent the guys that he had working for them a place to live. If you quit then you also lost your place to live. He'd also lend money, he'd set it up so that you were never out of debt to him, so you could never afford to just quit.

They didn't just arrest aliens, they towed the work vehicles, raided the offices, in the end there may be tax issues, ect.

Employers who knowingly (is there any other way?) use illegal workers are driven by greed. Plain and simple.
You dont always know if the proper documents are given, It is not the employers job to find out if the documents are legit or not. Also, since every Spanish person I have worked with or heard of require the same amount of money if not more than a American citizen, I wouldn't call it greed. I would call it frustration with the American worker that has driven most employers to look elsewhere for labor.

.....not that I would ever or agree with knowingly hiring an illegal alien
something just seems odd about this story

100's of companies have way more illegals working for them than this guy

You sound like my father . . . It is his stance "it's so widespread, there's nothing we can do about it."

My response is "I don't care." IMO any amount of time it takes to send one illegal out of this country is worth it.

Also, you should put a call in to ICE and tell them about the companies you know of that have "3 times that amount."

Not that I disagree with you, for onetime I was one hardcore "git r done" right wing conservative.
Times have changed, I am a businessman.......I see the world in a whole different way

God, grant me strength to accept the things that I can't change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

Like I said, I agree with you guys... I am 100 percent American that provides jobs to American citizens.

Its just that something about this story seems weird, there is more to it than some painter that has illegals working for him.

No, I hear ya'. Just one of those things I get all worked up over . . . As legit business owners, we abide by a lot of rules and regs, whether we agree with it all or not. It's frustrating to know that not all of our competitors are abiding by the same rules . . . Like steroids in sports.

Actually, I dont find it all that weird that the boss was providing housing. On a smaller scale, lets just say local, I know of a paint company whose owner sells his crew enough weed that they cant possibly work it off and they owe him money at the end of the week. They are constantly baked and in the paint zone. He never has to pay them and they can never quit. Holy Hotel California. Talk about surplus. Whatever works.

I support immigration. LEGAL immigration. My great grandfather and probably all of yours were immigrant too. I think these guys are taking the right route, holding business owners accountable for hiring. I guess I just don't like the term illegal immigrant. Call me a lefty, I just don't take kindly to the idea of a person being illegal... seems to 1984 for me.

What do you propose that we call the people who are in this country through illegal means?

Gmack do you maybe mean the people that have immigrated here unlawfully?

I think that illegal immigrant is quite an appropriate name. My problem is with business owners that like to exploit them to make more money and the HO's that are ok with that.
