Back rolling on siding?

Forgive my ignorance, but I am from florida so siding isn't something I've had to deal with much. That said I now live in MO where I will encounter a lot of siding.

In florida, the surface is typically flat or almost flat with texture when doing airless spray, so everything pretty much gets back rolled.

How do you handle siding jobs? or is this a case where you spray it and move on?

From Florida to Missouri, I feel as if I should say sorry :( Here in the midwest we have about every different type of exteriors. We back brush/roll probably 90% of wood exteriors unless new.

It's pretty much a necessity here. I see very little smooth clapboard siding, and when I do its usually on an old peeler.

Did three estimates today, not a foot of smooth lumber on any of them. I do wonder sometimes if its not a little overkill when the wood is in relatively good shape, but then I roll em out anyway;)
Old habits are hard to break.

Always:rolleyes: When I first started out as a wee apprentice my boss loved the T-111 jobs. Just spray it and forget it. I knew it wasn't right butt he was the boss.
Now adays I wouldn't think of NOT backbrushing it. Looks and seals sooo much better.

What I was getting at was brush vs roller. On rough stuff especially, the roller is way faster/easier for me.
