Finally, Behr has been dethroned as the reigning champ on Consumer's interior paint ratings. Unfortunately, they now are featuring even lower standards with a Walmart paint as the #1:eek:. I heard it on a radio interview this morning. What is the world coming too

Whimsical at best

They should call it DIY reports, afterall I've never heard them mention that they are testing in contractor settings and environments. Have any of you?

They don't
They do repeatable tests
That's what they are good at
And they do use some (uninformed) DIY type criteria for testing
But they don't even have any painting professionals on staff

When they say the latest big power cordless tools heat up to the point of meltdown, I pay attention
When they say this particular model of baby seat came loose 18% of the time, I pay attention

But when it comes to buying computer software, I'm reading PC World, not CR
When it comes to buying a car, I'm reading AutoWeek not CR
When it comes to buying paint, I'm checking out PaintTalk.com, not reading CR

From CT.com, it is the Kilz brand from Walmart. FYI, since it is 19.99.gal, I am going to set up my account tomorrow. I am sure customer service will be stellar....

I was buying 1.2.3 at Benny's for $18/gal

SW was selling it for over $30/gal...they matched the $18 when I told them I was heading over to Benny's

When you hear ratings like that, a few questions come up:

Think:

1. Are the results biased and conducted by Wal-Mart themselves?
2. Is the high rating based on performance or consumer preference?
3. Is the radio poll based in an area where Wal-Mart is the only store for miles?
4. What clientele are these people in the poll, consumers or professionals?

I've never used it before, I'm sure it's dreadful. However, ask yourself these questions, because I could not imagine Wal-Mart selling better paint than Behr.

While I am not positive about this: (A Fact).
I was told by a Walmart person that their paint is made by SW. I am sure it is from the lower grades.

That was in the past, when Walmart switch to the "kilz" line of paint that arrangement changed.

I believe years ago walmart paint was made by union coatings? out of the up state new york area I could be wrong on spelling of the company name. That company was bought by P&L prior to P&L being bought by SW. When SW bought P&L they assumed the other coating company too which was the walmart brand.
