Hi. I just picked up Graco 395 without a gun. I mostly hand paint or roll everything, it has been my main market so far. I am familiar with spraying, however, it has not been much. I might be getting into some spraying, like exteriors, interiors, trim, cabinets etc. I need a gun that is reliable, easy to clean and maintain, and can accept Tritech tips. It seems people like them better over Graco. I have been reading for hours on the forum, but can't seem to find an answer. Many use Graco SG or contractor guns. Do they accept Tritech tips? Exume me if the question sounds stupid. I am very green to spraying.

I like my contractor gun. Ez trigger, less fatigue, Ez to clean.
I've never used tritech (yet, but definitely interested) but as far as I know you just need to figure out what tip system you want to use and buy the right tip housing (guard) for that system. The guns are separate and all thread the same I think. I've only used graco stuff though. Had a titan gun at one point I think... It obviously didn't leave a lasting impression, I think I gave it to my old boss cuz his was just garbage.lol

We're happy to help the newer guys along. We've all been in your shoes at some point in our careers so don't hesitate to ask questions! We all still have much to learn from eachother as no one person has experienced everything there is to experience in the big wide world of paint.
Good luck and happy spraying!

I'm one of those painters who uses all the tools of the trade, but can't tell you brands, models , compatibility, etc. I do know that if you have a graco machine, you would want to use a graco gun. I like the barrel guns, but also find the contractor guns to be pretty solid. I use the RAC tips and have no problems spraying.

The biggest thing is keeping all your equipment clean. I treated all of my equipment like crap over the years. I had the mentality that if it doesn't look all beat up, you haven't been using it. Now, those days are over. I'm more focused on being organized, knowing my equipment, and keeping it clean and always functional.

I actually enjoy the time breaking down guns and cleaning them up with stripper.

Housing for the tip is the thing that takes the tip, not the gun itself. Tritech would not sell much of their tips if they were not making them compatible with Graco guns, simple logic. The difference in tips mostly disappears when going up in size, meaning only smaller, trim?, tedious work, tips will show more of a difference in a spray pattern and paint atomization.

Thank you everyone for quick replies. I just found this forum and already don't know how weathered without it. I am going to go with a Graco gun. Any model is better than the other in terms of reliability, cleaning, comfort etc?

Just go to the store which sells them and try a few in hand. Whichever is most pleasing to your palm and easily squeezable is the one to go with. Cleaning is fine with all of them, they have to be taken apart to get to the filter no matter what anyway. Also consider repack kits prices for the future.

Tritech tips work with a Titan guard. Today I had a Titan pump with graco gun, a Titan tip guard, and a tritech tip. Made my own little spraying rat rod.
