I am stripping the exterior of my house down to the bare wood, fixing it up with Bondo, and then priming it with oil primer. My problem is that I always notice a few blemishes (dime sized gauges, chips and nicks) after it has been primed. I called the manufacturer of Bondo and they said not to use it over primer. So what should I do to fix the appearance of the wood? I want something that lasts as long as possible, but I would prefer not to sand off the primer to fix the blemishes unless I have to. I am tempted to try to do it with my siliconized acrylic caulk but I would probably need to water it down a bit. I have used Elmer's Carpenter's wood filler on some nail holes before, and it doesn't seem very rugged to me. I also don't know if it can go over primer.

I have called about 20 different Lowes/ Home Depot and Sherwin Williams type places and no one is very confident about the answer.

So, what is the best thing to do?

thats funny cuz bondo application procedures state that it be applied on primer so a good bond is made. Your first post is a how to post. Are you a Paint contractor?

The info on my Bondo can says to put it on bare wood, and that is what the Bondo rep told me. Do you feel what he told me was wrong?

I am not a contractor yet but I hope to be one soon. I was hoping to hear any suggestions from the pros here. I hope a question from an amateur working towards being a pro is ok.
