This is true, but add the fact that that strip of wood beneath the track lighting definitely aged differently than the rest of it, from sun exposure etc. An option may be to switch over to a Spar Varnish which has more of an amber hue to it. It may mask it a bit but no guarantees. Or as others have suggested, maybe a whitewash of sorts..Honestly, it looks like simple dust/dirt. Water + detergent + rag + elbow grease. The stripes were covered for years so it makes sense they probably didn't clean those areas.
Sometimes sanding won’t even work @ removing or evening out transition lines where covered areas meet UV exposed areas .
I encountered the following yesterday after removing a tenacious UV cured ceramic clear coat w/P40 ceramic abrasives and removed a light 1/16” of the wood. The outlines where the area rugs were are still very prominent. Having similar issues with EWP…probably gonna end up bleaching all surfaces with sodium peroxide after sanding..
Wow..still there after 1/16"...Sometimes sanding won’t even work @ removing or evening out transition lines where covered areas meet UV exposed areas .
