Hey everyone,
Wanted to introduce myself. My name is Chris and I am starting a Green Contracting business in Chicago. I am starting with painting and handyman services and organically grow the company into other services. Hope to learn some tricks of the trade.

Does anyone currently offer No-VOC or low-VOC paints? Does anyone do it exclusively? (ie I don't use standard paint anymore?)
Thanks

Chris, you say that you are "Green Contracting" but you don't even know who sells the paint that is required to make your company "Green"?!! Yes they do sell low, no VOC paints

Make the question more clear...

I am aware of the products on the market. My question was to other contractors. I wanted to know how many are using low voc products? The second question is...Are any companies using this paint exclusively, meaning "our company only uses low VOC products, we no longer use standard paint"

We have been "Ecopainting" for the last ten years.
We use low VOC mostly, but not exclussively.

It is not just the paint only.
We have very strict environmental policies,
from re-using plastic, never using junk mail, no spraying etc.

Welcome and good luck:thumbsup:

I was curious about the green Porkchop, too...
Why not Tofu, or Gardenburger for a chosen pseudonym?

We apply green products if requested and prefer low voc paint.
Painter friendly products are a good thing.

Welcome aboard, and good luck to you!

I totally agree that it should be the whole 9 yards. Everything from start to finish needs to be done in a eco friendly mannor.

As for the name porkchop, it was a nickname that I got in highschool from my football coach carried on throu college and my friends still call me porkchop today.

Porkchop, this is what i got whem i clicked on your Chicago Green Painting and Handyman link. "You tried to access a document for which you don't have privileges." Don't know if thats what you want it to say when someone tries to go to that link. Just giving you a heads up.

I hope to have the full site up within 3 weeks. I will put a post up when its done to get everyones feedback.

ALex thanks for the link, I will have to call them up and buy the owner lunch to talk shop.

just for the record... low and zero VOC does not necessarilly mean 'green'... some of those products are still toxic...

How can anyone call SW Duration 'green'? It's got toxic chemicals in it. It's like saying that it's better 'cause it will kill you slower. So, here is this Chicago 'Green' contractor featured in SW's propaganda magazine using paint with toxic chemicals in it. Is there something wrong with this picture?
