...so today I get a call from a guy wanting a small job done quickly.
He tried to be persuasive...his first comment to me was, "I've got a nice warm indoor job for you."
(I guess he figured that would make me want to jump on that.)

Another customer, probably hoping to ensure I'd do a good job for her, was nice enough to give me a large bag of pecans.

Ever get any interesting inducements (or thank you's)?

What kind of inducement is a bag of pecans? :whistling2:

My mom lives in TN and says there's pecans all over the place to the point of being a nuisance.

Actually, right now, we're discussing a 1963 chevy pick up with a new ,350, 4bolt main, truck motor, for some interior work. That gives me the warm and fuzzies. Maybe not an inducement as much as a trade.

Wow talk about inducements, have I got a story to tell. A few weeks ago I received a call from a lady who was looking for an estimate for some painting that she wanted done. Well i traveled about 25 miles or so and took my notebook. When I arrived she began by telling me that she had broken her knees and just now was getting around. She used to do all her own painting, of course. I was looking the job over, and she asked me questions, and we had a pleasant exchange. Well as time went on, she told me that I had passed her "honesty test" un be knownst to me! Also, she told me that I had what is described in the bible as "hoary" hair(graying)! And the main enticement was a gift of canned goods. She gave me several canned products including beef roast(2006 by label), Navy bean(2003), Beef & Broth(2005), Turkey(2003), Black Bean(2004), and Chicken(2004). Well after bringing my treasures home, my wife flatly refused to partake.

Did not get the job. Probably just as well, as she also told me how tight their budget was after informing me that they had received an inheritance.:icon_confused: I spent 2 hours there, being polite and listening.

Happy painting, Paul
