Do you love to paint?

Sounds silly but a good question IMHO. Do you actually enjoy painting or is it just a means to make a living for you?

Love painting especially Interior, and love the money that comes with it.
Painting is the only job i've had that i dont dread everyday. I do dread the cleaning, we "restore" rental units after tenants leave. Painting, repairs, carpet, sanding/poly floors, wash windows, bathrooms and appliances. I've been with the crew for close to a year, about 6 months of actual work, it's a family business, im not family, so im first to go when work slows down, and i "get" to do alot of the cleaning. But the painting keeps me coming back
I love watching someone else paint,
unless something more interesting comes up.

I used to enjoy it,
now this body is all beat up.
strike o the ********! Back from the dead :boat:
How I wish...How I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year. Running over the same old ground, what have we found? Same old fears, wish you were here...:whistling2:

I can remember a time when things were a lot more fun around here. We sure could have used the wily little knuckleballer to come in and lob a few last night. Nobody, and I mean nobody, could make us laugh like that guy.

Both.... As far as working for a living in the trades , it's not a bad gig..

I think being an astronaut would have been more fun though... Or maybe a jet setter with a big fat trust fund ......:whistling2:

A pickpocket in a nudist colony?
... The part I don't care for is the prep, it seems like on some jobs the prep takes forever, but the finished product reflects the amount of prep done.Guess I need to hire soneone to do the prep then I'd be all happy.
I'm with you on this one! If all I did is paint every day, I'd be 100% happy with what I do. But prep knocks it down to about 75%. And on days when I have to paint textured ceilings with alkyd, 10% (but 100% when I'm done and all cleaned up because the ceiling looks so darn good!). And I also actually like doing estimates because I like seeing the different housing in my area.
Its weird, theres nothing like the feeling of completing a job, i started painting just for some extra money in the summer a 5 years ago and now i cant picture myself not painting, this winter has been the slowest yet and ive missed it!
so i must love it
When I was still painting in Orlando I loved painting of all kinds. I think my favorite was the remodel office work and commercial spaces. walk into a raw project and make it look like a palace.8 foot oak doors and all!
I did love it all. Exterior repaints (stucco and block homes) were a specialty. I did some with faux finishes even! Awsome stuff!!!
I enjoy my job, i feel rewarded by a job well done.

On a side note i haven't posted much lately busy. So why did Chip get banned?

I use to love to paint. There is nothing like a nice quite day of brush work. But over the years 30+ It hasn't been as fun the last few years, to many people beating on my spirit.
