i have a bid comming up its my first federal bid. So i was wondering do you bid it like a regular commercial job or do i bid it by the hour plus material.

Little more too it, your hourly rate goes up. Find your pay scale. You also have apprenticeship contribution fees. In cali its 50 cents per man hour. Call your WC to see what your rates are for PW, it will increase. You will need to figure extra for certify payroll, I would suggest you find a payroll company that knows how to do certify payroll. You need to check your aprenticship law. In Cali you must train aprentices that ARE enrolled in a aprenticeship program. Which means you may need to be a member of a aprenticeship program (2k). You would either dispatch one of theirs or you would enroll one of your employee. You need to check the laws in your state. If you fail to file one document. It can result in huge fines. The key is to be proactive.

Have to agree 100%! About ten years ago we did a couple of fire stations for a suburb here and if you can handle the paperwork, wait for your money and can deal with all the paperwork, then go for it!

Find out if its based off the davis baken prevailing wages etc. Look up your state and city for local wages. Ontop of wages you will have to pay fringes. Try wdol.gov. the payroll form that you will have to fill out weekly may be @ www.dol.gov/whd/forms/wh/347instr.htm
