I'm going on a job where the HO had a leak inside the wet wall of the shower. The wall is drywall. The only damaged area is a foot up from the bottom, which someone cut out already. The HO wants me to hang durock only on that area, up against the drywall.

The whole thing is tiled, except where the damage was, obviously.

Any tips? Any advice I need about durock? Other than score, cut, screw?

Someone else will replace the tiles.

Well, apparently, the HO feels that cementboard is better than drywall.

They apparently don't want to replace the shower walls. I don't know for sure, because I didn't ask a lot of questions. They had the board, explained the situation, asked me to intall. No harm, no foul.
Already installed it with waterproof screws. It was a foot high off the pan. Not too much.

Thanks
