I'm in the process of fixing up the exterior of an older house and had a question to ask sone of you with more experience since I usually don't get involved in much painting, only didnthis time because the homeowners are a friend. I had tolwo different painting contractors give me two different scenerios and was wondering which is better. The house now is painted a somewhat darker shade of beige. Both quotes obviously included the normal prep of washing, scraping and sanding. One wants to spot prime with an oil based primed tinted to the light yellow that is the final color and apply 2 coats of latex paint. The other wants to prime the entire house one coat and then apply one finish coat. Which is the better option for a superior final product. Like I mentioned before the house is currently a darker beige and it is going to a very light yellow. I want to try to stay away from primer and 2 finish coats because I am sure that will drive the price up. The house is shingled and was painted last time approx.4-5 years ago. Both paint jobs are brush jobs not sprayed. Thanks in advance.
