Quick question everyone. What should I prime this exposed exterior ceiling with? Considering the nails, i'm thinking oil is a no go.

What are you thinking? Are the nails something we should be concerned about when spraying?

That's not a ceiling. It needs a ceiling. Slap something like the 4x8 sheets of faux look wainscoating over it. Then put whatever ext paint material on it that you want.

Why would you be concerned about spraying over the nails with oil? I'm confused. Thats what I would use. Although @Joe67 is right in saying that there should be a soffit covering that area... What does your boss think?

I painted those kind of porch lids all the time when I lived in AZ. with latex paint and had no problem as the nails are usually cement coat type and moisture resistant. Very common in AZ on tract homes Open soffit as well on most houses.
