You may want to check with some of the companies that do floor coverings.
I was working at a church several years back where they were doing some major updates. The floor guys had some type of sander. Similar to a sander for hardwood floors but they said it was designed for prep after removing old tiles...

Might check with the rental center also...

Damn brother, you may want to try a heating gun.
I think I should walk on this one but the ho has been a good customer , maybe I can just sand and prime / paint it . He is selling and isn't going for the bucks it would take to do it right. The glue is well bonded to the floor and is not tacky.

I think you may be over thinking this one. Go get a gallon of adhesive remover and try it on a section. Let it dwell and work. Glue will soften just like paint. Try a 5x5 section and watch the clock. If two coats of remover are required do the math and give a bid.

Yep, you'll enjoy an exquisite blend of industrious scraping, followed by a hazardous application of toxic petrochemicals; yet only if the maitre d' is able to locate the hi-voc products. Possible substitutions may be made with soy-based products that are said to be 'greener.'

Shut off the gas to all appliances!
Ventilate well.

Since you'll be below ground, it will approach what it may be like... of course there's lattice!
