I recently purchased a Graco 395 for spraying interior. I was trying to use a 412 FFLP tip spraying SW pro-block primer but could not get a good spray patter no matter what pressure i set it at. The tip had a large finger directly in the middle of the spray patter. I had to switch to a 515 RacX tip. I have included a picture for reference. 1-4 is the fflp tip and 5 is the 515 RacX. Number 1 is the lowest pressure and 4 is the highest. Number 4 got rid of the finger in the middle but the paint was very thick on the outside edge and had no feathered edge. the filters in the sprayer and gun were clean and the tip was brand new out of the package. anyone else having a hard time with the FFLP tips?

i believe the 395 puts out 3300 psi at full pressure. shouldn't that be more then enough pressure?
I had 2 395's over the years, and they were always adequate for anything I used them for. But I never ran FF tips on them. Always ran FF tips on larger pumps. Your results look typical of not enough pressure. Since you seem to be getting satisfactory results with a .015 opening, I'm betting the 395 doesn't have enough to properly atomize a heavier coating through a smaller orifice.

I'm sure other members with more experience running FF tips on smaller pumps will chime in.
