Well, I just viewed a pdf file listing an Alois Wagner as having been a vendor/artist at a 2014 IFAM gathering in Santa Fe. He was listed under Santo Domingo Navaho. All the artists appeared to be Southwestern Indians. It's a stretch.............dang I'm bored. I have to get a life.
I like to think the painting is from Dr. Hebert Alois Wagner. An Austrian scientist who helped the Nazi war effort with missle design. He was later deported to the US in operation "Paper Clip" where he lived until 1982. It's 1942 and I can see him unwinding in his Berlin studio, brushing out this impressionist painting, with a glass of Cognac nearby.
