Sorry for the stupid question...but I forget...

I'm booking allot of exterior's ahead of time and don't want to book beyond the point of weather. I know that you can't be specific, but come close. Maybe Slick will know he's closer..... (Massachusetts)

In Vermont, I try to shut em down by Halloween. I got bit a couple of times in the early years by early november freezes.

Here in southern Cali were gud all year long, may be a few shut down days here and there.

Oil is worse because of the slow cure times. Latex can be done late season if you stay in the sun, because it will dry fast. Its the surface temps that get you. The oil is sitting there trying to dry and at night it gets cold and the wood closes up and says "you know what, I dont think I want to absorb this oil after all..."

I try and be done by mid October... here Chicago. I may start one in the beginning of Oct and then that's it.

Use Japan dryers. Man when I was a kid (I know....I'm geezing) my father made us paint outside until it was in the low 20's. We used japan dryers to make sure it set up.

To be safe October's it..but that can vary...
In the last few years we've had a frosty October that killed the season pretty quick, one where I was out until November, and ...I think it was two years ago it was still OK (for Manor Hall and Duration) for a few weeks in December.
But that was kind of unusual really
...it also could have easily been 10* colder inland that year
That happens sometimes
(I'm surrounded by ocean...it can delay the chill of winter)

I've painted exteriors in Telluride in 3 feet of snow.......

I painted a friends brand new house when an inversion set in over the valley and the temps at daylight were 10 below.....

Before ya' guys back east say anything, remember--humidity changes things.

I'm in NH. It depends on the paint. Some will go down to 35 degrees. Still the glycol can separate. I would say oct nov. Dec if you're daring.
