Hello,

I was recently sent a mailing by a local MAB paint store offering a significant discount if i was willing to give them a try for my clients households. I normally use Benjamin Moore and have been happy but i would be lying if i was to say that the price is not getting more and more ridiculous everyday. Does anyone have any experience with this company and the quality?

Strange? M.A.B. was thee name in paint when I was getting into it. I didn't even realize till later on it was a local brand. Seashore exterior that's all anybody wanted around here. Rich lux, wall shield for interior, they had the best paint and the best rep, M.A.B..did.

Sherwin bought em out, the M.A.B. Stores turned into Sherwin stores, and I don't know, is the M.A.B. Line they sell still the same? The formula and all. If it is. Yeh it's good paint. Primo even. I ain't used it in years. But not because it wasn't good product, just the Sherwin doesn't feature it, so it isn't as easy to get anymore,

I used seashell on my exterior 17 years ago and it's just now starting to chalk. Can't really speak for any of their other products though.

Two GC's I work with have nothing but good to say about MAB.

They didn't get bought out in Maryland.

The stores that used to be M.A.B. Stores, they carry both Sherwin and M.A.B. I think. But I don't think they push the M.A.B. At all. No signage or anything.

Kinda telling actually, they obviously didn't buy them out to you know add to their brand, Sherwin didn't. Obviously they bought em to remove them as competition.

MAB was a top line product before SW took them over an ruined them. i remember the transition like it was yesterday. one day the paint just didnt cover anymore an that was it.

took the signs down....altered the formulas... gave them a nice little section of shelf space back by the bathroom. it literally happened overnight.

Seashore was probably one of the best exterior paints out there. Used it on rough stucco and "visually" cover in spray/backroll coat! Last I saw it (15 yrs later) still looked good.

Another good one that's gone was Porter 719
