IUPAT drug test question

12K views 23 replies 8 participants last post by  RH
Alcohol is also legal, but most employers and co-workers don't like working with drunkards. Weed is the same thing. It's an intoxicant. I certainly don't want to be working with someone intoxicated.

I don't see any reason to give weed a pass just because it has the unfortunate quality of lingering in your body for weeks. Until there is a quantitative test for weed that determines a level at which one is impaired, or not, it should be avoided.

you totally took this in a different direction. i clearly made no mention of working intoxicated.

You're the one that mentioned it's lame to take a drug test. I don't think it is lame to take a drug test for the reasons I mentioned earlier. Maybe it's just me, but it's seems you're looking for a way to circumvent a drug test. I don't condone that because companies face tremendous liability risks if their employees have an accident under the influence of an intoxicant.

As long as you're employable, I would suggest abstaining from marijuana until a quantitative test is developed that can support an employee's level of non intoxication. Until then, I would advise not letting a recreational activity interfere with your career. I would also add that the medical reasons for marijuana usage is pretty weak.

Good luck with your results.

Even after being corrected that I said nothing about being intoxicated on the job, you not only mentioned being under the influence on the job again but you intentionally omitted the part where i said "I want to do it the right way and will not be cutting any corners" and say I'm "looking for a way to circumvent a drug test" ????

Wow triggered much? WTAF

This post had specific questions about joining IUPAT, you totally hijacked it and inserted a completely irrelevant rant about getting high on the job? Yikes bro. Point on the doll where the stoners hurt you and let's calm down with a wine cooler eh.
I don't smoke pot. So I'm pretty calm because I don't have to take any measures to dodge drug tests and so forth. But I have a question Terry, if weed is thought to be benign (because it's legal) why is it still targeted on drug tests?

But hey since this went off the rails so far, humans have been reaping the benefits of cannabis for thousands of years, until the 1930's when corrupt businessmen (dupont) criminalized it for their own financial gain. These guys are responsible for your antiquated views. Thankfully we're going back in the right direction and it will be federally legal eventually. Both of you should dip your toe in the water, based off how triggered you were by someone asking about IUPAT drug test timing. SHEESH
If pot smoking makes me as angry as you, I don't want any part of it.

Look, you came to a painting site thinking you were going to get sound advice on managing drug testing as a member of the IUPAT, and as a pot smoker. As if everybody, particularly painters, are on board with it. It's OK to have disagreements. I'm not hurt that you think I'm a Nancy. lol! In fact, I was smoking and growing weed when you were making a mess in your diapers.

You took a question and inserted totally irrelevant opinions, completely unrelated to the question.. You also claimed twice that I was trying to cheat a drug test, which I clearly stated that I wasn't. This is factual and objective reality, all on display above. Why did you do that? Must be something in my post that triggered all that?

And all that holier than thou moral ranting about weed only to then boast about smoking & growing weed? What a joke. Pick a lane, you can't have it both ways. Trolls gonna troll I guess.

And yes RH, if these guys didn't get triggered and engage in their ugly trolling attempts, this post would have been more productive with the 1 reply from woodco.
I can see how emotional this subject is for you terry. I apologize if I hurt your feelings. I hope you have a long and prosperous career with the IUPAT.

Yours Truly,

Another Annoying Boomer
