I did a living room, hallway and kitchen on Monday & Tuesday, yes it took 2 days thanks to the customer providing the paint. Usually I don't run into problems with this but this was one of those situations where work is slow so I underbid due to the fact that cheap paint and dirty walls = double coating everything and possibly having to go back and retrim the kitchen again. No matter how long you have done this you always have that one job where the profit will never be enough. I am not going to lose money on this job, but I should have made alot more.

I've been down the underbid road myself. Live and learn, when we have dirty walls we bid to clean or have the H.O. clean to help out with the cost. Also, should have known using cheap paint would cost you an extra coat or two.

This might be the rare case when you just do the second coat as soon as the first is dry. Stay in the same room, do the cut in, roll out and then just do it again. It's pretty quick.

One I learned from my dad (automotive-mechanic shop) when the customers furnishes the parts (paint) the labor is at the highest rate....

I have found that unless I know it is going to be a name paint SW, BM, Etc.
it will be something to thin to cover with.... I do have one or two rental property companies that furnish paint but they generally have a good quality paint.

no kidding bro, I see red = I see money, and lots of it... in fact, i think red paint is made from the blood of old painters gone to hell.
