What’s up y’all, I’ve been getting into painting a little heavier as a hobby and some for work as a handyman, but I have very very little experiencewith spraying. I have an old sprayer in the shed I would like to make functional, and would appreciate some advice. It is so covered in paint I cannot really identify the brand or the function of the knobs, I will attach picture. Thanks

A picture from the other side would be helpful. There should be a prime/spray switch on there. Make sure it's pointing down, then put the sprayer in water and turn up the pressure knob. If water comes out of the prime hose, then you can flip that switch to point sideways, which is spray mode. Since there's no hose on that machine, water will shoot out if it is working so do this outdoors.

I'm sure this thread will get shut down, but there an abundance of YouTube videos that can give you general advice on how to use an airless sprayer.
Im going to be less optomistic about your chances of using this machine. I have been in this game for 30 years and I do not recognize that sprayer, it looks maybe Airlesco? Anyway, if it hasn't been used in a great deal of time, its probably dead, meaning the parts inside, packings and seals are deteriorated. So you would need a repack. Honestly save yourself the time, energy, and money of trying to revive a dinosaur and just spend $300 at HD and get a G5. Its made by Graco, built to spray about 200 gallons in its lifetime then you throw away. Small amount to spend when you don't spray much.

I believe that is a diaphragm pump and it is about 40 years old made by a company called rubberset I remember my dad having one like that. I don’t believe you’ll get parts for it.
