There is a version in the Matte finish here in Connecticut. C484. Under 50 g/L. The regular version is 90 g/L. I've applied both and did not notice any difference. Maybe less open time in the C484, but I added a little extender and it rolled and hid well. The sheen on the Matte is a little higher than Regal and Aura IMO.

The matte finish was already higher than Regal after the 2nd coat. I like it for trim so am a little concerned about the hardness and that unique feel it has.

Talked to a local BM store owner today and his SC-X Matte is now the lower VOC.(SE Mich)
It's still pretty new here. He said he hadn't gotten any porfessional-folks complaints yet.

I love the Matte on woodwork too....doing a project now with it, but it's the higher voc. I goofed though...the color is Heron White or the other way around....it doesn't cover in two. I will never use this color again on a repaint of decades long, janky DIY painting over initially stained pine from 1949 (there is gloss roping on the casings with heavy gloss roller texture on the the flat doors..)..thankful it's a T&M job. I could see the color working in other, calmer situations.....sorry kinda strayed from your post...but when I get to the lower VOC, I'll post my experience.

I haven't found that to be the case. I tested the C484-1X in my kitchen, bedroom walls, and hallway entry way. Still has that weird slippery feel.
Scuff-X Matte reminds me of a paint named Muralo. I believe it was made in my area (MI) and have no idea if it made to other areas.
I loved the paint and remembered be told that part of its composition was ground up golf balls. All or which part, I do not know.

The way it was explained to me by the BM Rep back when it was first released is one of the main ingredients in Scuff-X comes from one of the raw materials used to make that fiberglass piece that's under the front bumper of your car.

I tested the new low VOC scuff-x satin a couple weeks ago. It still feels that same. My gallon was cold, so it did not flow quite as well but did better as it warmed up. I would say it is a little thicker than the current version. I had great coverage brushing with white dove over a Kendal Charcoal-like color as well. Other samples were sprayed on cabinet doors. Seemed less prone to micro bubbles but slightly less leveling, not bad but might need a touch of thinner. I think brushing hide was improved.

Muralo bought Grahams, which has the first washable flats and was made in Chicago. Also has a fantastic ceramic satin trim paint. Muralo was then bought by California, which was then bought by ICP.
