You can probably do a google search to get the cost of living and property taxes. I wish you luck. With real estate dying Arizona has been hit pretty well in the areas outside of Phoenix that were growing at a tremendous place. A friend of mine had a landscape company down there, his own nursery, and started flipping homes. Now he's sitting on three mortgages that he can't get out of or rent the houses out either. Just went bankrupt and is trying to liquidate his assets to move back home with his parents (bringing the wife too). I wish you luck....expect it to be a bullish market where you will have to work hard for your work.

least you'll have year round work! Arizona is a beautiful place. I visited in '93. I would think being so close to the border could make it tough, if you know what I mean. Do a lot of research before taking the leap-sometimes you learn some vital things with research.

I wish you luck either way though. Watch out for those snakes and check your shoes daily for scorpions! I'm not joking...the natives do it

With all the retiring baby boomers from the midwest relocating in the SW I would think that catering to that market would be profitable.
Really?
Your experience must be a bit different than mine.

Trying to earn a living from folks on a fixed income is tough.
Especially when their retirement fund was heavily invested in hedge funds.

They like to golf, and play tennis, though.
Does that count?

Perhaps you have never had someone grind your price for a repaint while standing in their driveway next to their bassboat with a new 250hp Verado powerhead that was just installed at the shop.

Been there,
Done that!

Fastest growing housing market in the country. I would think someone needs there house painted by a pro? I'm just bitter that my wealthy clients are retiring there.:(

Hey Lason,

I am in chi too. I go down there once a yr (mom lives their) everything is beige! no colors, too hot in summer, exterior mostly stucco no wood, and all the walls inside are knock down texture a lot different then were use too with smooth drywall etc.

And yes the market is being hit hard there with the housing bubble blow out. But if you go I wish you luck... One less painter here in Chicago :)

OK, I posted gloom & doom, and Paint to Fish called me on it...

There were other, more appropriate listings I should have posted...

However, I will admit, I can't find a lot of info regarding the area, as compared to others.

Therefore, I would say it's a possibility...

Who has direct info on Arizona???

I'm in contact with a couple tradesmen, on another board, who ARE there.
I'll ask them specifically, and return with what I find out.

Sry if I went to the dark side...
