Mea Culpa
Years ago, when I was still learning the trade, I got an exterior job. The paint was peeling horribly, and try as we might, we couldn't make it look good. We scraped, sanded, scraped more, sanded more, etc. It still looked horrible.
The customer was out of town. I got the bright idea that we would float the siding with quick set.
Three years later I was still regretting that idea. We went back every year until they sold the house to fix the peeling areas at no cost.
The good part is that they hired me to paint their new house. They appreciated my perseverance.

brian...was it because of all the feathering and uneven areas that you couldn't make it look good? If so, I know exactly what you mean.
I had a job where I regret not stripping the claps all the way across, instead I opted to feather and was painting with a gloss. Looked good straight on, but from the side :blink: :whistling2:

Yes, we couldn't feather the edges because there were about 10 coats of paint on the siding. When we tried feathering it looked like ocean waves.
We tried to do the right thing and make it look good. Which it did until the quick set started popping loose. It's kind of funny to think about now, but at the time it was anything but funny.

I dont think it really would matter... Brian it's the thought that counts man. Im sure that's why they hired you again.
