I keep getting mildew in joint between the window frames (alloy) and the casing (wood). Im wondering of any solution or product that will strengthen the rotted, water soaked wood casing which has mildew and mold deep (probably 5+ years by the looks)... I figured wash down with aittle bleach (50/50 water) let dry 24 then maybe reapply and again 24 then caulk then oil prime then paint. wondering if any solid time tested solutions. BIG PROBLEM in APARTMENTS and basements. THANKS AND IT FEELS LIKE HOME

Yes, there are liquid wood hardeners, google for them.
But if the mildew and mold is deep in the wood fibers and brewing there for 5+ years,
that means that there is a continues moisture problem that needs to be addressed first.
If it was me I would spend my time and efforts on that, anything else will be putting a lipstick on a pig.
