I am trying to achieve a weathered look on vertical exterior rough white pine siding. Benjamin Moore's Translucent stain is limited to 6 pre-mixed colors, none of which work for me. I like the "Spanish Moss" color in Benjamin Moore's Semi-Transparent stain, but the semi-transparent stain doesn't let enough of the grain show through. So, I'm wondering if anyone has ever mixed the semi-transparent stain with Benjamin Moore's clear coat? I can achieve the color I want, but am not sure if mixing these two products is going to result in other issues. If it's not advisable, how can I thin the semi-transparent stain to make the grain show through more?
